BAC Announces the Release of its 2023 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report

Baltimore, MD (September 20, 2024) -

Baltimore Aircoil Company, Inc. (BAC), a worldwide leader in cooling solutions for the commercial, manufacturing, and industrial markets, announces the release of its second Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report. This 2023 ESG Report highlights the progress made on key initiatives, accomplishments, and targets necessary to achieve BAC’s vision of reinventing cooling to sustain the world.

“This ESG report serves not only as a record of our progress and accomplishments, but more critically establishes metrics and targets to hold ourselves accountable to achieve the best business results in environmentally and socially responsible ways,” BAC President Don Fetzer said. “We, at BAC, have an obligation to innovate so we can achieve our vision of reinventing cooling to sustain the world.”

With our earth’s most critical resources in short supply across the globe, the focus on long-term sustainability has never been higher. Through innovative design and engineering, BAC has developed technologies that set the precedent for sustainable cooling.

In 2023, the energy intensity of BAC’s operations decreased for the second consecutive year relative to consolidated revenue, with a 17 percent reduction since 2019. With increased emphasis on renewable resources, BAC has nearly quadrupled its percentage of renewable electricity used since 2019, a trend that is expected to continue in the coming years.

This shift towards renewable electricity in combination with other energy efficiency and decarbonization efforts, has enabled BAC to achieve Scope 1 and 2 emission reductions that exceed 10% year-on-year. That brings the actual emissions for 2023 on track to achieve the target of reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50% by 2030 versus the 2019 baseline. Similarly, BAC has cut potable water usage by 24 percent relative to consolidated revenue since 2019, with facility and filtration upgrades and the harvesting of rainwater as contributing factors.

Transparency between customers, staff, and suppliers has always been a staple of BAC. Responsibly sourcing materials by ensuring suppliers and subcontractors adhere to standard sustainability metrics is a future goal that allows us to succeed and thrive together.

This ESG report highlights BAC’s commitment to social responsibility, with diversity, equity, and equality as the foundation of building better culture and relationships. BAC is growing and evolving, with everyone working toward a common goal—reinventing cooling to sustain the world.
